Baking Hope in the Middle of the Storm
A few years ago, during Hurricane Harvey, four bakers from a Mexican bakery in Houston showed incredible bravery. At first, they closed the bakery and went home after selling all the bread. However, a few hours later, they returned to start baking again. Soon, the streets were flooded, and they were trapped inside the bakery.
At first, they were scared and didn’t know what to do. But then, they decided to keep working. They knew that people in the city needed food, especially bread. So, they worked all day and night, taking turns to sleep on flour sacks. Even though the water was rising, it never entered the bakery, and the electricity didn’t go out.
On Sunday, the bakery owner tried to rescue them, but the police didn’t let him. The next day, he finally arrived and was amazed to see the bakery full of fresh bread. The bakers had made 4,000 loaves and used 2,000 kilos of flour.
In the end, they delivered all the bread for free to volunteers and victims. This story shows how bravery, teamwork, and kindness can help others during dangerous situations.
